Shade plants requiring very little sun (usually in the morning);
sun is OK

Our Begonias come in two distinct series. The cocktail series have bronze leaves and grows well in partial shade to full sun. The Green leaf variety we grow loves partial sun. Both varieties are very hearty, nice as borders, in beds, containers or hanging baskets.

Non-Stop Begonias: This beauty is one of our favorites. It will bloom its heart out all summer in heavy shade. It requires little attention. "Non-Stop" Begonias are an amazing new strain which continuously covers itself with masses of perfectly formed, medium sized flowers. It has all the strength and vigor of regular begonias, but is actually the first strain to produce truly compact, double flowering blooms and a real dwarf growing habit, making it wind resistant. "Non-Stop" Begonias start flowering very early... flower buds actually appear with the first leaves. With a long continuous blooming period (June to fall) and low growth habit, they are excellent for low borders, window boxes, bedding plants under trees.

Brocopa: Has carpet like growth. Does well in shade to partial sun. Great for planters and hanging baskets. Covered with beautiful dainty white or blue flowers. Likes to be keep moist but not wet.

Butterfly Flower: Stratosphere: Plant in sun or partial shade. Grows to 10-20 inches. Plant 8-12 inches apart. Hardy to -20 degrees. Plant alone or in combinations or in the landscape. Heat and shade tolerant plants have snapdragon-like flowers all season long; low maintenance.

Coleus comes in many random colors. Does best with morning sun and afternoon shade. Should be kept pinched back to produce stocky full plants.

Impatiens Grow best in bright morning sun and afternoon shade however, if properly mulched and watered will do okay in afternoon sun. Great in hanging baskets, in containers and fabulous as a bedding plant in that shady area.

Double Impatiens come in many colors; like morning sun and afternoon shade. Will flower all summer. Good in hanging baskets, large containers or as a bedding plant for a little something different.

Dragon Wing Begonia: The bedding or fibrous-rooted begonia is one of the most useful of all summer bedding plants because it can thrive where most annuals are distinctly unhappy - in the shade under trees. The plants will provide rich color even when they are in shadow for much of the day provided you follow these rules - buy good stock, don't plant out until June, enrich the soil with humus and water when it is dry.

Fuschia: We grow three varieties in hanging baskets. They are all quite beautiful. All trail nicely. Fuschias like morning sun and afternoon shade. They require a large amount of water. During the hot times in July and August watering a large plant twice per day in not uncommon. When grow properly they are truly a sight to behold. Humming Birds love Fuschias.

Little Henry :Plant in sun or shade. Grows 24 to 36 inches high. Hardy to -15 degrees Great for massing on large banks, in beds, and borders. Can also be grown in a container for the deck and will add color year round. It is also small enough to thrive as a potted shrubs. Foliage turns bright red in the fall, and white flowers in early spring you'll have an outstanding colorful shrub through every season.

Torenia: "Clown-Mix" large flowers on compact plants. Does well planted in small groups or container. Grows to 8-10" high, very suitable for shady areas.

Torenia hybrid: Summer wave blue Vigorous, creeping/trailing habit. Self cleaning and branching. Great shade plant. Easy to grow with very low maintenance. Blooms all summer. The Summer Wave series has superb heat tolerance and low-maintenance performance. Fast and easy to grow, it provides superb color even in the hottest summer months. A foolproof combination plant for container gardens. Larger, deep violet flowers and firmer, larger and more distinctly serrated foliage. Grows well in part sun. Great in as a landscape plant and also terrific in combinations baskets or window boxes. Soil should be keep moist but not soggy. Well require daily watering during hot summer months.
